Awarding body Propertymark is the main professional body for letting agents and estate agents. Members have to abide to a stricter code of conduct than the law requires thereby providing customers with the peace of mind that they are protected when working with Propertymark members in a similar way to how ABTA travel agents protect holidaymakers.
The NAEA award is the estate agency member side of Propertymark with ARLA (Association of Residential Lettings Agents) being the equivalent for the lettings side of the business. Alison has held this accreditation for 11 years.
Commenting on the significance of obtaining both accreditations, Alison Jarman said, “Unfortunately our industry is sometime perceived as being totally sales driven with little or no consideration being given to customer service and a general lack of transparency. We pride ourselves on the level of customer service we provide and voluntarily signed up to Propertymark to provide our customers with the peace of mind and reassurance that we will always act in their best interest and if they don’t consider this to be the case they have an official channel in which we can resolve any disputes.”
To achieve both accreditations, Alison had to demonstrate compliance with a comprehensive range of terms and conditions including registration with HMRC regarding money laundering legislation, correct insurance, and protection policies.
She said, “The application process was thorough and involved a lot of work but it is definitely worthwhile as it does differentiate us from our competitors, and will reassure house sellers, landlords as well as buyers and tenants that they are working with a professional property company.”
